David Kosoy Honored Among 2024 Akron Athletics Hall of Fame Inductees

The University of Akron has revealed its 2024 Varsity “A” Hall of Fame class, celebrating a new group of standout athletes, coaches, and contributors who shaped the Zips’ athletic legacy. Among the honorees is David Kosoy, recipient of the Mike Krino Varsity “A” Achievement Award, recognized for both his on-field excellence and distinguished professional career.

A former Akron football guard from 1965 to 1967, David Kosoy set a school record in 1966 with three field goals in a single game, including a dramatic 37-yard game-winner against Baldwin Wallace. Beyond his athletic achievements, Kosoy built a decades-long career in real estate and finance, serving as Co-CEO of Sterling Centrecorp Inc. and founding several successful investment firms. His induction highlights a lifetime of achievement that extends far beyond the gridiron.

The 2024 Hall of Fame class also includes standout athletes such as Shawn Barber, Clayton Murphy, Rachel Tecca, and Domenik Hixon, along with the historic 2005 Akron football team. The induction ceremony will take place on October 4, 2024, at the Jean Hower Taber Student Union, where the university community will gather to honor the newest legends of Akron Athletics.
